Position Scope/Summary:
 
The Machine Operator Operations 1 is an entry level position.  The employee will be mainly responsible for operating machines and equipment used in the manufacturing of products and will work with other employees to effectively meet or exceed expectations for product quality and production rates.  Machine Operators must have a basic knowledge of manufacturing equipment. 
 
Position Requirements:
 
  • Operate machinery and equipment used in the manufacturing of products
  • Follow all required work and maintenance instructions and procedures
  • Load component materials into product specific tools, with supervision
  • Follow established documentation for product manufacturing, including but not limited to SOPs/work instructions, travelers, routers, prints and deviations
  • Maintain proper handling and movement of materials and paperwork
  • Document all work performed on inspection reports and customer travelers/work orders
  • Performs in-process inspections of all parts and/or assemblies in accordance with the requirements stated in the work order or as otherwise stated on drawings or work instructions
  • Performs various dimensional inspections using specific calibrated dies for dimensional inspection systems and micrometers
  • Maintain a clean work station
  • Set-up and/or operate basic jobs with assistance (i.e. 1 tool) on some of the equipment within a cell or department using set-up sheets, blueprints and/or operation sheets per customer requirements
  • Inspection of work accurately with assistance from co-workers
  • Perform basic set-up and operation manual machines when required
  • Basic adjustments to maintain dimensional integrity
  • Verify the revision level for the current operation (operation sheets, blue prints)
  • Verify PC count and all applicable documentation for completion of previous operations
  • Participates on various teams to achieve performance metrics
  • Maintains machine maintenance and log
  • Learn and adhere to all necessary company work instructions
  • Comply with work rules including safety, health, quality system, 5S, and Lake Region Medical Quality Management Systems
 
Environmental Working Conditions:
 
  • Using personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, gloves, and other equipment as established in company policies and safe work procedures
  • Working with cutting & machining fluids, solvents, lubricants and other hazardous chemicals using appropriate safety controls
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. frequently, occasionally to a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Frequent carrying, bending, standing, sitting, and repetitive motion
  • Employee must comply with all safety policies and safe work procedures established by the company

Qualifications:
 
  • This position requires a high school diploma or GED or equivalent experience required
  • Attended trade school or 0-2 years shop experience
  • Ability to use basic inspection equipment and techniques
  • Ability to read basic blueprints and/or operation sheets
  • Basic shop math skills
  • Entry level position. 1 year operating machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Maintain organization to ISO operation procedures
  • Complete all job specific required training
  • Perform duties to achieve overall business unit metrics
  • Comply with all safety regulations, wears appropriate safety equipment as required in each area of the facility
