Summary

Lays out, assembles, installs and repairs various types of piping systems. Installs these systems according to specifications and appropriate trade and building codes. These systems may consist of pipes, fittings, piping systems, fixtures and equipment for heating, cooling, gas, steam, lubricating, sprinkling and industrial processing systems. This position will consist of full knowledge of all regular client separator assembly, as well as knowing how to troubleshoot with new and evolving products. This position will give beginning training to new hires and provide leadership for newer employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • May layout and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe, or templates.
  • Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, or pipe benders.
  • Assemble or secure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints.
  • Reads blueprints and performs own fit-up.
  • Safely operates iron worker, overhead cranes, rigging, pipe threading machine, welding machine, tube bending machine, and various pneumatic hand tools.
  • Assembly of componeents with some fabrication of equipment needed for the job with minimal supervision.
  • Promotes and supports safety, production and positive attitude.
  • Primarily fabricates and assembles screwed piping, tubing, and associated brackets to all drawings provided.
  • Expected to know customer names and the components that go with each customer specification.
  • The ability to tack weld and grind their own work independently. This has to be done in the safest manner as well as meeting the cosmetic standards
  • Extensive parts knowledge as well as setting standards for new personnel.
  • Must develop the capabilities to complete a separator regardless of the company from start to finish, as well as guiding junior employees through the training process all while learning themselves to ensure quality control.
  • Must have the expected amount of procedural knowledge to start a new product and take guidance from a Lead rigout technician to finish the new and developing designs. The senior must also have the part knowledge and experience to repair a remanufactured separator.
  • Knowledge of processes, parts, and training of new hires on proper procedures and part recognition.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED. Proficient reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • 1-3 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Experience operating other shop equipment.
  • Ability to learn application techniques and gain knowledge.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow blueprint specifications.

Language/Math/Reasoning Ability

·         Ability to read, interpret and/or understand work and safety instructions provided in English in order to complete the essential functions of the job.

·         Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

·         Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

·         Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

Physical Requirements

  • Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.

  • The visual acuity required including color, depth perception and field of those whose work includes the operation of trucks, forklifts, cranes and high lift equipment.

Working Environment

·         Heavy physical activity performing strenuous activities daily of a primarily productive/technical nature.

·         Outdoors and indoor shop environment with adequate ventilation.

·         Normal operating hours and days: Monday–Friday with some weekends and nights as needed to meet customer needs.

·         40+ hours/week required according to the needs of the department; schedule set by Operations as needed to meet production schedules.
