Accounting Manager - Thornton, CO
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting
Manager to oversee and lead a dynamic accounting team, including two clerks
(Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable), a Staff Accountant, and a Senior
Accountant. This role will be responsible for ensuring the team operates
efficiently and meets deadlines while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and
financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Oversee
the day-to-day activities of the AP and AR clerks, Staff Accountant, and
Senior Accountant, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Provide
mentorship, guidance, and support to team members to promote skill
development and professional growth.
- Conduct
regular performance evaluations and establish clear expectations and goals
for the team.
- Foster
a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages
accountability and continuous improvement.
Accounting Operations Management:
- Review
and approve work prepared by the Senior and Staff Accountants, including
journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Oversee
the accurate and timely processing of AP and AR transactions, ensuring
compliance with company policies.
- Ensure
smooth and efficient execution of financial operations, including cash
flow management, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Coordinate
with leadership to address complex accounting issues and provide
recommendations for resolution.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Ensure
the timely preparation of accurate financial statements and reports in
compliance with GAAP and company standards.
- Oversee
month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring all
deadlines are met.
- Collaborate
with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with internal
controls and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain
and enforce accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistent
application across the team.
Process Improvement and Scalability:
- Identify
and implement improvements to accounting systems, processes, and workflows
to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Lead
automation initiatives to reduce manual processes and improve the accuracy
of financial reporting.
- Document
and maintain updated process manuals to support the team’s activities.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Serve
as the key point of contact for finance-related inquiries from other
departments and external stakeholders.
- Partner
with senior leadership on strategic projects, such as system
implementations or process enhancements.
- Support
special projects, including mergers, acquisitions, and organizational
restructuring, as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s
degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 7+
years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in
a leadership role.
- Demonstrated
ability to manage and develop a team of diverse roles and
responsibilities.
- Strong
technical knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Proficiency
in Quickbooks online and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent
analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong
communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead a team and
collaborate with stakeholders.
