Estimator Job Description – Window Shades/Coverings

 

 

Summary:

An experienced window shades/blinds estimator who can perform takeoffs from blueprints, estimates the scope of projects, get price quotes from product vendors/manufacturers, submit and/or revise proposals/bids to clients, and provide any pricing adjustments/change orders as needed.

 

Daily Tasks:

·         Manage Estimating Calendar for all proposals due, and prioritize upcoming bids

·         Review e-mails and responds within 24 hours

·         Communicates with all appropriate departments/personnel regarding project details, as needed

·         Estimating:

§  Perform takeoffs of new invitations to bid

§  Review all necessary project plans, specifications and appropriate documents

§  Determine required/appropriate products

§  Price products from vendors/manufacturers

§  Generate and send proposal/bids to customer

§  Generate drawings, spreadsheets and/or other documents, as needed

 

Other Duties:

·         Coordinates with management to implement pricing, policy and procedural changes

·         Review submitted and awarded projects with the Project Manager. Coordinate/Review projects with other departments as needed

·         Attend job walks/site visits, as needed

·         Participates in product training, safety, and other programs, as needed

·         Answers and screens incoming calls, as needed

 

Conduct:

·         Communicate professionally with management, co-workers, customers, and vendors

·         Observes all company rules, regulations and safety practices

 

 

Candidate Specifications:

·         Ability to read, analyze and interpret construction documents including plans, specifications and product submittals

·         Strong ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, vendors and clients

·         Organized and detail oriented

·         Knowledge of general construction practices

 

 

Education:

High School diploma is required.

 

Software Utilized:

Variety of construction software, database, email and office management programs including

Bluebeam Revu, Word, Excel, View 360, Outlook, Acrobat

 

Working Conditions:

90% in office environment

10% in the field, as needed

Flexible schedule
